Finding Honor in Daily Tasks (article below)
A small tribute to our SCA Teachers, celebrating Teachers Appreciation Week May 2 through May 6th . “Imagine the difference between the early childhood teacher who treats care as drudgery – and the one who treats care as education and honors care as an intellectual exchange.” So writes Carol Garboden Murray in her popular and important book, Illuminating Care: The Pedagogy of Care in Early Childhood Communities. She explains how daily care tasks (diapering, dressing, eating together…) are often mistakenly devalued, but should be honored: “Care is the making of humans. Care is the first lesson of love, connection and dependency. Care rituals demonstrate quintessential whole person learning – the integration of mind, body, heart and soul. Care is the origin story we all share.

Thank you to families for:
Special thanks to the Drexel Hill Church for being
prayer warriors for our families and staff
Sonshine holds a STAR 4 designation the highest designation awarded by the Department of Welfare. We strive every day to ensure that each child reaches their individual potential by providing materials and activities appropriate for their developmental level. We have resources that allow for the overachievers as well as those who need extra help to succeed every day.
Children are a gift from God. They have not been haphazardly formed or birthed. They have been created in the image of God. They have been entrusted to us for our nurture and care. Children and adults need each other.
